Amazing food, great dining experience. Shinji lives up to its name and expectations.

I am fortunate to have dined in such a setting in Japan before, and I must say I appreciate that the chefs in Singapore spoke better English. For someone who can’t speak Japanese, it is great to have better clarity what I’m actually eating :p

Reservation is a must. And please pick the counter seats. That’s the whole point to visit such restaurants, to marvel at the workmanship of these chefs, at their training and at their discipline and at their precision.

The menu is straight forward. I would recommend going for omakase though they are more expensive.

Shinji has lived up to its reputation. Sushi was fabulous. Service has been attentive but never intrusive. This wonderful experience just makes every other Sushi experiences (even highly praised ones) just not as good.

Much better Sushi Omakase available elsewhere in Singapore. Fish was fine (though only a few really rare/premium pieces), but the staff were rude (from server to chef) which brought down the whole experience.
